Karen Wright Marsh | Executive Director
Karen studied philosophy at Wheaton College (B.A.) and linguistics at UVA (M.A). She lives at the Bonhoeffer House in Charlottesville, Virginia, with her professor husband, Charles Marsh, where they raised three children: Henry, Will and Nan. Christen Borgman Yates | Associate Director
Christy graduated from UVA in ‘99 with a BA in Political & Social Thought and later received her MA in Applied Theology & the Arts from Regent College in Vancouver, BC. She lives just outside Charlottesville on a 5 acre farm retreat open to the community with her philosopher husband Chris, 4 mostly grown kids (Tobin, Cashel, Linden & Saylor), flock of hens, goats and rescue dog. Virginia Montoya | Development Operations Manager
Virginia graduated from the University of Alabama (Roll Tide) in 2013 with a B.A. in Religious Studies. She has worked primarily in the non-profit space since then, organizing events and providing operational support. Most recently, she helped execute a holistic leadership program designed for healthcare executives. She lives in Birmingham, Alabama on the edge of a small nature preserve with her husband Alex and her four year old and six year old daughters. Email Virginia.
FIona Balfe | Leadership Associate
Fiona graduated in May 2024 from Wheaton College (IL) with a B.A. in Biblical & Theological Studies and a B.S. in Environmental Science. Studying at Wheaton instilled her love for academic endeavors as a way to enrich faith, which shaped her vocational aspirations to serve at the intersection of ministry and academia. She particularly hopes to equip the church in the areas of creation care and embodied faith. Towards that goal, she is committed to Duke Divinity School’s M.Div. program following her internship. She looks forward to serving and seeking the Lord and pursuing thoughtful faith with the Theological Horizons community this year.
Charles Marsh | Founding Director
Charles is the Commonwealth Professor in the Department of Religious Studies and directs the Project on Lived Theology at the University of Virginia. His books include The Beloved Community;The Last Days: A Son’s Story of Sin and Segregation at the Dawn of New South and God’s Long Summer: Stories of Faith and Civil Rights, a biography,Strange Glory: A Life of Dietrich Bonhoeffer and most recently a memoir, Evangelical Anxiety.
Peyton Rabb ‘26 | Non-Profit Management Intern
Peyton is a third-year at UVA studying English and Political and Social Thought. She grew up moving around every couple of years, going on whatever adventures the Army planned for her family before settling them in Williamsburg, VA. Despite the chaotic childhood, she still enjoys traveling and meeting new people. Whenever she gets the chance to be still, she loves to read and write, listen to music, and watch the sunset.
Ava Foulk ‘27 | Vintage Intern
Ava is a second-year at UVA pursuing a B.S in Biology with a Specialization in Environmental and Biological Conservation. Her family of seven—Mom, Dad, older sister, younger brother, dog, and cat— currently lives north of Baltimore, but she grew up in a variety of places along the East Coast. In her spare time, she loves being outside, whether backpacking, climbing, running, or playing ultimate frisbee, but she also has a soft spot for baking, napping, and curling up with a good book.
Ilana Kaplan ‘26 | Vintage Intern
Ilana is a fourth-year at UVA studying economics and politics. Coming from a mixed household based in Washington DC and Mexico, she grew up in Mexico City and moved to the US to study at UVA. She enjoys engaging with the mix of perspectives and cultures in her community and during her free time she enjoys running, reading and listening to music, but is always happy to stop what she is doing to meet someone new and have interesting conversations.
